What’s the flexibility in the scheduling?

Flexibility in scheduling is valuable to many Brightmont Academy families.  Student  athletes and performers appreciate scheduling that works around extracurricular activities.  We have had students complete two grade levels in one year to support moving forward with their athletic and performance goals.  Our campus schedule works in partnership with schools to support students in tutoring as well. We keep a digital scheduling system for students, family, and staff.  With two weeks or more written notice (email), classes can be rescheduled in advance to make sure no learning is lost for tournaments, competitions, or travel.

Can students graduate fully accredited so they can go to college?

Students graduate fully accredited so they can go to college!  Every year multiple students from our Birmingham campus move on to the schools and majors of their dreams.  Brightmont Academy is accredited through Cognia.  Recently, we have had graduates move on to Michigan State University, Miami of Ohio, Kettering, University of Michigan - Dearborn, Oakland Community College, OTEC, and Ferris State University, to name a few.  We always appreciate students and families updating us and dropping by campus.  Check out some of our testimonials on the Brightmont Academy Website.

What are the teacher qualifications? 

Instructor qualifications vary in the best way possible.  Teachers are experts in the field they teach!   At our Birmingham campus we have teachers ranging from 1 year to 35 years of classroom experience, college professors, and content experts!  Think about an author teaching your student language arts, a professional artist with 20 years experience teaching color theory, a business owner teaching leadership and success, or an engineer teaching math - that’s part of our formula for success at Brightmont Academy! Instructors keep courses relevant with real life application and expert experience.  All instructors have prior experience working with children.  Another way instructors connect with students is through prior experience in coaching, mentoring, volunteering, and refereeing.  We understand students and the encouraging and supportive mindset needed for each hour of instruction, it's who we are at Brightmont Academy.

Can we get help with applying to college and a letter of recommendation?

We help with college applications and letters of recommendation.  Instructors get to know your student in a one-to-one classroom setting.  We know our students strengths and can speak on how our students shine in letters of recommendation.  Students receive support in the common app, or applying to programs and colleges directly.  Navigating the common app can be overwhelming for students, and we can walk them through sending emails to request letters of recommendation from their coaches, community leaders, and prior teachers.  

Another service we offer is the Writing Skill Building course.  Many students take this course in the summer before their 11th or 12th grade year to prepare for their college or dorm application essays.  As students work on college essays, cover letters, and resumes in Writing Skill Building courses, they see the real life application of the skills they are building.  Students work on writing prompts to make their voices stand out and share their stories in our custom writing programs written by the Academic Team.  Our goal is student success!

Annette has 30 years of experience in higher education.  She knows the ins and outs of transcripts, higher education, college application, and so much more! What is the turnaround on transcripts?

Transcript turnaround is quick.  The Brightmont Birmingham campus has had students graduate at the end of June and move on to their colleges in July and August.  We encourage students and guardians to communicate goals and deadlines with school administrators so that we can ensure a quick turnaround.
